Information For External Referees

Thesis/Dissertation Evaluation by External Referees

External referees are requested to give a detailed review of the thesis/dissertation using a thesis/dissertation evaluation form. In addition to the completed form, the external referees are welcome to upload their remarks as annotations on the manuscript and/or provided a detailed report as an attachment. The identity of the referee will not be disclosed. Kindly refrain from including any identifiable information in the form or documents you attach.  When annotating, please be sure to remove your name as the owner of the review comments. 

The filled form along with the attached documents (if any) will be shared with the student, the student’s supervisor and co-supervisor (if any), the defense examination committee and the program director.  All the issues and comments raised by the external referee must be addressed by the student during the defense exam.  The exam convener will bear the responsibility of ensuring that the external examiner’s remarks have been satisfactorily addressed

 

Please carry out your evaluation by following the instructions given.   Keep in mind that The Review System is an Open Journal System (OJS) that has been customized by the CGS to facilitate the evaluation of Master’s and Doctoral candidates’ theses and dissertations.
